Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters. Here's exactly what we collect, why, and how we look after it.
Last updated: 1 July 2026
This policy explains how we handle personal data when you enquire about, buy, or use our website service. We process data in line with the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
1. Who we are
The data controller is Phil Thomas Tech Ltd, operating the sitelocalbusinesswebsites.uk ("Local Business Websites", "we", "us", "our").
Contact: phil@localbusinesswebsites.uk
We handle data protection enquiries by email.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
When you get in touch or start with us: your name, business name, email address, phone number, and anything you tell us in your message. If you become a customer, we also hold your billing details and the content and materials you provide for your website — text, images, logos, and similar.
Information we collect automatically
If you consent to analytics cookies, we collect aggregated information about how the site is used (pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type). If you decline or don't choose, none of this is captured. See our Cookie Policy.
3. Why we use your data (lawful bases)
- Contract (Article 6(1)(b)) — to design, build, host and maintain your website, provide support, and take payment.
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a)) — for marketing emails and any non-essential (analytics) cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) — to respond to your enquiries, keep the site running and secure, and improve our service. We only rely on this where your rights don't override it.
4. Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of essential cookies to run the site and remember your cookie choice. Analytics cookies are off until you accept them. Full details, including how to change your mind, are in our Cookie Policy.
5. Who we share data with
We do not sell or trade your details to advertisers or data brokers.
We share data only with the service providers we rely on to run the business, each under a written data processing agreement:
- Vercel — website hosting, performance and security.
- Resend — delivering enquiry and contact form emails to us.
- Google Analytics — aggregated site usage statistics, only if you accept analytics cookies.
- A payment provider to process subscription payments, where applicable.
Data is stored in the UK or European Economic Area where possible; any transfer outside this area is covered by UK-approved safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. How long we keep data
- Enquiries that don't become customers: kept for up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Customer records: for as long as you're a customer, and up to 6 years after for accounting and legal purposes.
- Website content and materials: kept while we host your site; removed on request after your service ends.
- Marketing data: until you unsubscribe or object.
7. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate details.
- Delete your personal data.
- Object to direct marketing (an absolute right) or to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent or ask for a copy of the data you gave us in a portable format.
Email phil@localbusinesswebsites.uk to exercise any of these. We respond within one month, which we may extend for complex requests.
8. Complaints
If you think we've mishandled your data, please tell us first — email phil@localbusinesswebsites.uk and we'll look into it. You can also complain to the UK regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top shows the current version.
