Terms of Service
The agreement between you and us when you use our website service. Plain English, no surprises.
Last updated: 1 July 2026
Welcome to Local Business Websites (the "Service") — a done-for-you website service that designs, builds, hosts and maintains a website for your business for a flat monthly fee. These terms set out how it works.
1. Who we are and your agreement to these terms
1.1. The Service is operated by Phil Thomas Tech Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), through localbusinesswebsites.uk.
1.2. By enquiring, signing up, or using the Service, you (the "Customer", "you") agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1.3. These terms form a legally binding agreement under the laws of England and Wales. Signing up for a paid plan requires a positive opt-in, which creates a direct contract between us.
2. The service we provide
2.1. We design, build, host and look after a website for your business. The exact features depend on the plan you choose, as described on our Pricing page at the time you sign up.
2.2. Timescales. We aim to have your new site designed, built and live within around 14–21 days of receiving the content and information we need from you. This is a target, not a guarantee, and depends on how quickly materials are provided.
2.3. Ongoing care. While your subscription is active, we host your site and make reasonable changes and updates as part of the service. We provide this with reasonable care and skill.
3. Fees, payment and renewal
3.1. The Service is provided for a recurring fee, currently£79/month, as shown on our Pricing page. Fees are billed in advance.
3.2. Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel future renewals at any time (see section 4).
3.3. Price changes. We may change our fees from time to time. We'll give you reasonable notice by email before any change affects you, and you can cancel if you don't want to continue at the new price.
4. Cancellation and your consumer rights
4.1. Cancelling. You can cancel at any time by emailing phil@localbusinesswebsites.uk. Cancellation stops the next renewal; we don't charge a cancellation fee and there's no long tie-in.
4.2. What happens to your site. Because the Service includes hosting, your website goes offline when your subscription ends. On request, we'll provide the content and materials you supplied.
4.3. Cooling-off. If you sign up as a consumer, you have 14 days from purchase to cancel for any reason under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. If you ask us to start work during that period and then cancel, you agree to pay a proportionate amount for the work done; we refund the rest within 14 days. Nothing in these terms removes statutory rights you have as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
5. Content and intellectual property
5.1. Your content. You keep ownership of the text, images, logos and other materials you provide. You grant us a licence to use them to build, host and maintain your website.
5.2. Your responsibility. You confirm you own, or have the right to use, everything you give us, and that it is accurate, lawful, and not infringing anyone else's rights.
5.3. Our materials. The underlying code, templates, design system and tools we use to build and run sites remain the property of Phil Thomas Tech Ltd or its licensors. You receive the right to use your live website for as long as your subscription is active.
6. Acceptable use
6.1. You must not use the Service, or ask us to publish content, that is unlawful, infringing, deceptive, or abusive.
6.2. We may decline, amend, or suspend content or a site that breaches these terms or the law. Where practical, we'll tell you why.
7. Availability and support
7.1. We aim to keep hosted sites available and to respond to support requests promptly, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. Occasional downtime for maintenance or reasons outside our control can happen.
8. Third-party services
8.1. Your site may rely on third-party services such as domain registrars, hosting, fonts, or analytics. These are subject to their own terms, and we're not responsible for their acts or omissions.
9. Liability
9.1. We provide the Service with reasonable care and skill. We don't guarantee any particular business result, such as a specific number of enquiries, sales, or search rankings — see our Disclaimer.
9.2. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else that cannot be excluded under law. Subject to that, our total liability to you is limited to the fees you have paid us in the 12 months before the relevant claim.
10. Changes to these terms
10.1. We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date shows the current version, and continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms. For material changes affecting paying customers, we'll give reasonable notice by email.
11. Governing law and jurisdiction
11.1. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of protections available under the law of your home nation within the UK.
